Commercial

Our position as a trading fund means that our customers aren’t the general public; they’re other government departments. Our services and products need to meet their needs, deliver securely against requirements, and demonstrate good value too. Within Commercial, you’ll find all kinds of people who make that possible. They provide market insight, identifying new ways to grow our business. They manage the bids that help us win new work. They put together fair, reasonable costs for new projects. They provide the communications that help us reach new customers every day. And a lot more besides.

Hear from one of the team

There’s a good camaraderie here; a team-working spirit. That comes through in things like winning bids. If we’re competing for something alongside private companies, and we win, we’ll always have a celebration of what we’ve achieved together.

Commercial colleague

Colleagues here can be based in either Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes, or King Charles Street, London.

The Commercial team get a holistic view of the organisation: you could work with the CEO’s office one day, and be talking about complex overseas property requirements the next.

Case study

The Global Britain project represents the biggest expansion of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s global footprint in recent history. They’re our biggest customer, and the team here are central to making sure it’s a commercial success.

We look for opportunity constantly. What problems are our customers trying to solve? How could we take a product to market to help? It takes resourcefulness and passion.

Say there’s a new bid: our costs will be meticulously planned by the Cost Engineers, making sure what we offer is upfront, honest and reasonable – and with real market awareness too.
